A sedentary fish that shows a preference for relatively warm waters, with abundant vegetation and little current. Its attractiveness for sport fishing led to its entry into Spain back in 1955. Carp

The common carp (Cyprinius carpio), although not a 100% native species, has been in the Ebro River since before 1900. The Ebro River itself, the Sea of Aragon and the Ribarroja Reservoir are the most suitable places for fishing carps. Today there are specimens of more than 40 kg in weight in the region´s waters. It is a very characteristic fish with very aggressive features, but like the other species, the zander is harmless. The largest specimens can reach more than 1 meter in length and weigh more than 10 kg. It lives in the middle reaches of rivers, in areas of marked current, but also proliferates in reservoirs. Both the common trout and the rainbow trout are found above all in the Pyrenean rivers. In the large rivers of the Pyrenees and some lower courses, the trouts can reach sizes of up to 6 kilos, with exceptional catches in rivers of up to 9 kilos. ReadMore
